The Dominican Republic pledges to ensure the safety of visitors.

In May, the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) released safety protocols to put in place within the tourism industry. The new safety approval standards are essential to avoid any further virus outbreaks caused by travel. Face masks, improved cleanliness, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), food hygiene, and increased use of electronic contactless processes will contribute to the new norm.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, Lucien Echavarría, has reassured the industry that all airports will reopen on July 1. All airports will abide by  new safety precautions such as temperature checks, while hotels will prepare for guests following the new protocols set by WTTC. Guests will be encouraged to make use of online platforms to carry out tasks such as checking-in, restaurant reservations, and payments. Tourism hotspots across the country aim to make the experience of the Dominican Republic safer, seamless, and more relaxing..
